How to lose weight fast: Top 3 Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

How to Lose Weight - 3 Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

If your weight loss goals are stuck in neutral, it's time to give your body's metabolism a swift kick in the pants to jumpstart your fat-burning engine. You are probably already eating a calorie-controlled diet -- good for you! You may also be increasing your activity level to try and burn more calories the old fashioned way -- through increased exercise. But if you are doing these things and not seeing the results you want, it's possible that your body has become used to the lower-calorie diet and your metabolism has adjusted to the new routines. Now what? Here are a few things you can consider to kick that metabolism into high gear and get the fat-burning process back on track:

1. Trade in your walking shoes for aerobic shoes. If you have been thinking that an evening stroll around the neighborhood constitutes cardio activity, I'm afraid you are in for a disappointment. While walking has many health benefits, and overall, you are better off walking than sitting in front of the computer, a leisurely stroll does not increase your heart rate enough to burn fat deposits.

Instead, you need to find an exercise activity that will get your heart rate into the target zone for at least twenty-five minutes. Go to your computer and type "target heart rate calculator" into your favorite search engine. Then use one of those calculators to determine the target heart rate for your age and weight. If you enjoy exercising at home, you may need to buy a heart rate monitor at your local sports store to track your heart rate as your exercise. One of the benefits of exercising at a local gym is that most of the cardio machines feature built-in heart rate monitors, making it easy to track your target heart rate.

By elevating your heart rate to it target zone during twenty-five minutes of exercise, you will enjoy an increased metabolism throughout the day. If you are just starting an exercise program, it's best to workout three times a week to let your body rest between workouts. However, for optimal fat burning results, you'll need to increase your workouts to four or five times a week as soon as your body is ready.

2. Trade in 3-Squares for 6-Squarelets. If you grew up eating the All-American diet, you are probably mentally conditioned to eat three square meals a day. Now that you're trying to lose weight, it's time to trade in that out-dated folklore and start eating five or six mini-meals each day. The reason? The longer you go between meals, the more likely your metabolism will slow down in order to conserve calories. Your metabolism is simply a physical process that has no way of knowing that you're planning to eat again in an hour. If it has been more than three hours since you last ate, your body tends to assume you are never planning to eat again and it begins to conserve calories. This is exactly the opposite effect that you want! So feed the engine little bits of fuel all day long and the fire never goes out.

Of course, it's important to make sure you reduce the size of each meal so you can keep your overall calorie intake where it needs to be for the day. Just take your daily calorie budget and divide it by six rather than three and you can't help but jumpstart that metabolism. It may be the only thing you need to change in order to reach your weight loss goal.

3. Buy a 1-Gallon Bucket. You don't need to actually drink from it, but use it as a visual reminder of how much water you need to drink every day. According to Wikipedia, your metabolism is likely to go into hoarding mode if your body is deprived of water. The recommended daily water intake is ten 8-ounce glasses. If you do the math, you'll quickly see that eighty ounces of water is equivalent to 1.25 gallons. So fill up that bucket and start drinking.

If you are taking these steps and still not seeing the results you want, you may want o consider a dietary supplement such as Hydroxycut or Caralluma Burn to increase your metabolism. Fast Weight Loss Exercises

When you are working to lose weight quickly and safely, you should keep in mind that you have to both cut your calories and you have to exercise. A mistake that many people make is to only do one of these steps, when both are critical to the success of your fast weight trimming program! Today, we'll be talking about a few basic, simple exercise routines you can get in to help you trim the fat "super fast!"

Fast Weight Loss

The first exercise that should be a staple of everyone's workout routine when they're looking to drop a few pounds is running, jogging or swimming. If you have health problems that affect your body in ways that prevent you from running or jogging, swimming is an excellent, low-impact exercise routine that you can perform. You shouldn't try to push yourself too much when you get into a running, jogging or swimming routine, though, as this can actually harm you more than help you! Instead of doing your exercise of choice for an hour or two per day, only do it for 30 minutes every few days.

On the days that you don't run, jog or swim, you can substitute in other exercises to help "mix it up" and keep your body from adapting to your exercise routine. The next fast weight losing exercise you should try are jumping jacks. Going through a routine of 20-30 jumping jacks every other day (on the days you aren't running or swimming or jogging) can help you lose weight quickly since it attacks different muscles than the other exercises do.

The final basic exercise that you should work into your quick weight loss workouts are some form of muscle-building exercises, such as weight-lifting, squats or pull-ups. These exercises should be performed on your fast weight loss days when you aren't running, swimming, jogging or doing jumping jacks. A great routine to establish is one where you run one day, do jumping jacks the next, swim the next, do pull-ups the next, etc. This keeps your body moving and prevents the weight loss from slowing down and plateauing, a symptom of quick weight loss exercises that many people experience.

Ahmedabad's first 'green' hospital comes up near Sola

Author : http://sify.com

The latest latest addition to the city's string of multi-super speciality hospitals, Care Institute of Medical Sciences(CIMS) Hospital, boasts of being one of the few hospitals in the country that has a 'green' building.

Milan Chag, managing director of CIMS, claimed that it is one of the first eco-friendly hospitals in the country. "We have over 40 per cent open space filled with courtyards and gardens. Here we have ensured that natural light is abundant within the premise, besides the use of eco-friendly construction materials, installing rain-water harvesting pits, sewage plants to recycle water apart from using NComputing to save electrical energy", he explained.

The cardiac unit of the 150-bed hospital is operating since the last three months, while the entire facility would start from November 21. The overall investment in the hospital has been around Rs150 crore, and CIMS plans to scale it up to 450-beds in the future. "We have already submitted a primary project report to the state government to expand the facility into a 22 storey one in the future. Additional investment could be to the tune of Rs150 crore. But, the expansion project is likely to take off only after two-three years", Chag informed. CIMS has around 5,000 square yard land available for expansion at site. The current investment has been funded through a mix of debt and equity. "Around 35 per cent is debt from private equity players and banks, while the remaining is equity", he added. CIMS claimed that it would aim to operate in the lines of a community hospital, offering services at rates cheaper that prevailing market rates. "Cost of services here would be at least 10 per cent cheaper compared to major corporate hospitals", Chag claimed. CIMS has been operating a heart clinic at Rajkot since the last 10 years. It does not plan to expand to other cities of Gujarat at the moment. The Ahmedabad multi-speciality hospital would primarily cater to patients from Gujarat, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Urban Indians have unhealthy diet: Experts

Hectic lifestyles and easy availability of convenience foods has led to irregular meals and frequent snacking on energy-dense foods among urban Indians. Consumption trends have revealed an increased intake of sweetened carbonated drinks and sweetened juices among the Indian masses.

“Overall, this nutritional transition, particularly noticeable in children, has resulted in high consumption of calories, saturated fats, trans-fatty acids, simple sugars and salt,” said Dr Anoop Misra, director, department of diabetes and metabolic diseases, Fortis Hospitals, New Delhi. “Childhood overweight/obesity is increasing in urban cities in India. Three-year data from eight big cities, including Mumbai and Lucknow, show highest prevalence of obesity among Delhi school children with 32.6%, with the lowest in Lucknow with 14.9%.”

Over a three year period overweight and obesity in school children (14-18 years), increased significantly from 9.8 to 11.7%.

Nutrition transition is responsible for causing obesity and other diet-related non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease," he said.

Over 200 experts representing reputed medical institutions, hospitals, government funded research institutions, and policy-making bodies participated to develop Asian Indians-specific dietary guidelines.

Simple shift in diets could tilt metabolism in such a manner that blood sugar and cholesterol get metabolised more efficiently,” said Dr Misra.
